As a 2021 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellow, Susana Lau has had the incredible privilege of immersing herself in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Denver, Colorado.
During her time in Denver, from May 25 to June 12, 2023, Susana was integrated into the ecosystem thanks to World Denver. This included sessions with the Colorado Minority Business Office and Denver Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO). These platforms provided a broad view of how business growth and diversity intersect, shaping the local economy in meaningful ways.
Etyalab, in collaboration with 303 Software and working together with YLAI 2023 Fellow Mario Garcia, made the 303 Software office a hub for learning and collaboration. Networking and active participation were essential aspects of the time in Denver. Kirsten Chong and Moises Chin, both members of the Etyalab team, traveled to the United States for 5 days to participate in training, work meetings and social activities. This event presented a unique opportunity to strengthen team dynamics while employees gained experiences and shared knowledge in a different business environment.
Looking ahead, the team at Etyalab and partner 303 Software will continue to collaborate on U.S. software projects from Panama.
Finally, to share experiences and resources, Susana shares the background material she used for the workshop she presented during the Closing Forum in Washington DC, June 12-16. The basic material is a playbook developed with Nélida Gómez, from Fundación CREEA, thanks to an Impact Grant received this year, which can be accessed at https://www.etyalab.com/product/ajustando-productos-a-mercados/.
Reflecting on her journey, Susana is immensely grateful for the lessons learned, the connections made and the opportunities presented. She looks forward to sharing these experiences with the YLAI alumni community and continuing to foster the spirit of collaboration and growth that has been a pillar of her journey.
