Mercadito

Mercadito App – Connecting Agriculture with the B2B Market

Design and development of native mobile application for iOS and Android (Internal Spin-off of EtyaLab).

The Project Challenge

The agricultural sector in Panama has historically faced logistical and intermediary challenges that make it difficult for producers to sell their harvests directly at fair prices. EtyaLab’s objective was to create its own technological solution that would serve as a direct sales platform, eliminating communication barriers and automating the supply and demand process for agricultural products.

The Technological Solution

We developed Mercadito, a comprehensive mobile marketplace designed for Android and iOS platforms. The application was conceived using the Scrum agile methodology, which allowed for rapid and efficient iteration based on direct feedback from users in the sector.

The application allows agricultural producers to register, create their digital catalog, and publish the availability of their products in real time. Although initially launched with a hybrid approach, the platform evolved into an exclusively B2B (Business to Business) model, optimized to connect farmworkers with retailers, restaurants, hotels, and distributors that require fresh, high-quality raw materials.

Key Features and Results

  • Agricultural Inventory Management: Intuitive interface adapted for the producer to easily update stocks and prices from the field.

  • Commercial Geolocation: Enables corporate buyers to discover and contact nearby local producers to optimize the supply chain.

  • Agile Methodology: Development under Scrum ensured clean, scalable code and a smooth user experience (UX).

Today, Mercadito represents a success story that demonstrates the potential of EtyaLab’s technology to transform traditional agricultural marketing into an agile and efficient process.
